“This is pretty much the most preposterous thing I’ve ever done…”
This quote from David known as Nonsensei, one of our members, pretty much sums everything up: this is pretty preposterous, but it has also been extremely fun. House of Flying Needles started back in 2005 and was the brain child of Lauren aka Noin Hime in the cosplay world. After getting their idea for a Megatokyo skit turned down in 2004 they decided to come back with a vengeance in 2005. The members of HoFN were very surprised to win an award for their first performance, The award and fantastic audience response proved to be too addictive for HoFN; they were hooked.
In 2006, the core members left Seattle University. Lauren decided that it was time to give the group an official name. The movie “House of Flying Daggers” had recently made its debut in the US, and given how many times needles have caused both pain and happiness for the members, “House of Flying Needles” seemed appropriate. They had another successful year in 2006 and the audience reactions they were getting were feeding the addiction and so they kept coming back for more and the rest is history.
The Mission: First and foremost we are about making people happy. We live for the cheers and chuckles of the audience, and the smiles we get when someone enjoys a costume we’ve made. We hope to be making people happy for many years to come.
